Greetings:

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I know I did.

When I was younger, I wanted to win and accomplish things so that I could live a lavish life. As I got older, I was more concerned about leaving a legacy. Now, my life is dedicated to how much I can give.  When was a child, I was really concerned with how much I could get.  When I was a young adult, I was concerned with how much I could acquire.   Now, my only concerns are with how much I can give, how much I can leave, how much I can teach, how much I can write and how much I can leave for my children.

Weekend after the weekend, I am either coaching, traveling to coach, teaching, traveling to teach, speaking or traveling to speak, or getting some much needed rest and relaxation.

As we enter the meat of the last quarter of this year, I would encourage you to start thinking now about your plans for 2018. Waiting until January 2018 is just too late.  Start making a list of the things that you want to leave. Think about the legacy that you want to leave your children, your family and your friends. Also ruminate on the lasting impression that you want to leave when you are gone and start devising and designing a plan to make that happen.

If you need some help with this, you are more than welcome to hit me up at info@drrhadiferguson.com to set up some time for a personal coaching call so that I can help you navigate through this area.  I know it’s a lot to think about but we all must have a psychological and/or spiritual compass that guides our behaviors, our moves, our dealings and our engagements.  This is one of the keys to moving through live with purpose and limited frustration.

There are times that I get frustrated with procedural or personal issues but not with my life. Most of my frustration comes from those who think that they can stop me from doing what God has already ordained and ordered for me to do. But even then, I really shouldn’t be frustrated because I do understand that God’s timing is perfect.

And with that, you have to understand that it is your time to get to work on bringing your life, career, goals and mission in line with your purpose in the universe.

So take some time in the next 3 to 4 days and jot some notes down of some of the things that you want to get accomplished and the legacy that you want to leave. And then let’s start working on it.

One Example
===========

Before, I go let me give you a simple example.

My wife and I want to leave a legacy of health and wellness with the children. So, we workout together. We workout separately. The kids see us working out. They workout with us at times. We keep healthy food in the house. When we want to eat ice cream and junk food, we do it outside of the home or do it on a Saturday or Sunday and then get rid of the food. We believe in keeping things ordered but not so much to the point where we have super tight constraints.

We just want them to know that working out, eating healthy and also enjoying food is a good thing.  And that is a simple thing but it required for my wife and I to sit down and really make up some rules about how we want the house to be run.  And that’s just small example that I wanted to leave you with and you think of things.

Another one is…. my friend Denerale Jones and his wife do not have a television. They read and require their children to read. It’s so commonplace now in their home that reading is just what they do. The children love to read and the parents do too. So reading and the love of reading is a legacy that they have chosen to leave with their children.

So, as I said before, take some time in the next 3 to 4 days and jot some notes down of some of the things that you want to get accomplished and the legacy that you want to leave. And then let’s start working on it.
