I have 2 children.

Their names are Rufus and Rhadi.

My son Rufus was named after my father and my daughter Rhadi was named after me. At the time of this writing Rufus is 13 and Rhadi is 9. And I love my kids very much. But unlike most parents, my life is not all about my kids. My life is all about giving my kids what they need to become good citizens and quality human beings. Their desires and whims are important for me to listen to but not important for me to always fulfill.

There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing them smile and laugh. And there’s nothing more heartbreaking than having to instill discipline when it’s needed.

But I can tell you this. In all things, I am thankful that they have been gifted to me and that I get the opportunity to serve as their father. As a matter of fact, I do tell them but I am going to tell them just that today. And if you have children, please follow me in today’s gratitude exercise and tell your children how grateful and thankful that you are to serve at their parent.
